▶How does a KUUS. personal alarm with fall detection work?
For the wearer it is simply a watch to read the time. It works on its own and does not need to be paired over Bluetooth with another device (it works with any SIM card, for example the free one included).
Family or carers pair the fall detection watch with the app by following the instruction video. In the app you set everything up and see the GPS location of your loved one.

Personal alarm watch with no subscription, standalone and SIM unlocked
The KUUS S5 is an alarm watch with no subscription. It works with a standard SIM card and is SIM unlocked, so you can choose your own provider across Europe. The watch works fully standalone on 4G.

Family or caregivers use the free KUUS app (iOS and Android) to set up the watch, view the GPS location, set a geozone (virtual fence) and call or video call the watch when needed. The wearer does not need a smartphone, everything runs through the SIM card and a 4G connection.
Fall detection and SOS button, double safety
The KUUS S5 is both a personal alarm and a fall detection watch:
- If the wearer presses the large SOS button, the watch automatically calls the saved emergency contacts within seconds, up to 3 numbers in a row.
- If the watch detects a fall, it triggers the alarm automatically and shares the current GPS location through the app.
To reduce false alerts you can adjust the fall detection sensitivity across 8 levels, from very sensitive to less sensitive. This lets you match the settings to the wearer’s mobility and fall risk. If it is a false alarm, the wearer can cancel it directly on the watch.
GPS tracking watch for seniors with live location and safety zone
The KUUS S5 is a full GPS watch for seniors. With the free KUUS app, family or caregivers can:
- see the live GPS location of the watch,
- view the location history,
- set a safety zone, for example around the home or a care facility.
If the wearer leaves the zone, family receives an automatic alert on their phone. That helps in situations such as dementia or wandering, without taking away freedom.
Health mode: medication reminder
The KUUS S5 is more than a personal alarm. In health mode it offers:
- up to 3 medication reminders per day.
The medication reminder plays as a voice alert on the watch, so medication is less likely to be missed. In the app, family can view daily steps and measurements if needed.
Video calling and contacts
The ad-free KUUS app also allows video calling. Family or caregivers can start a video call, so the wearer not only hears a voice but also sees a familiar face.
In the app’s phonebook you can store up to 10 important contacts. If one of these people calls, the wearer sees the name and photo on the screen. That adds recognition and peace of mind, especially with early dementia.

For the price, a second strap could have been included alongside the plastic one, instead of a Lebara SIM card; or make it a choice, a SIM card or a strap.
A fine watch, and the fall detection in this Watch is welcome. Now you really do feel safer, because the button can be used straight away. I would certainly recommend it. I have bought a second S5 myself, really pleased with it.
Not satisfied, a lot of hassle! It looks simple, but even younger people have problems with the installation.
The watch does not look like a standard alarm watch. That is what makes my mother willing to wear it. Fortunately we have not had to use it yet, but it gives a safe feeling that she can reach me if she needs to
The worst part is the deception with misleading photos. None of the photos on the website show how thick the watch really is, it looks only half as thick. Indoors the GPS signal does not work. And then it does not automatically show the last known address, but a completely absurd one, Spain instead of Germany.
The watch arrived exactly as described. Lovely packaging. The instruction video is really useful. If you follow it, setting it up is actually very simple. The menu is handy too, because you can enter everything on your own mobile and it syncs straight to the watch. I am very happy with this choice.

Lovely watch, but after inserting the SIM card and activating it via 1244, the app really could not find the watch after umpteen attempts. The video does say that you may have to log in again, but for me the pairing only worked after I had switched the watch off and on again. It should also be mentioned that when you use the number keypad you have to swipe the digits and not press them, because pressing does not work at all, and how do you bring up the * and the #? For people with poorer eyesight the square watch model might be better. Is the display perhaps a bit larger then? All in all everything did work, just really not within 10 minutes. What would be the best setting for falls, 3 perhaps, because at 4 there is not much response to a staged fall.
Good care taken over the shipping
Just arrived, now to install it. I am curious, but it will work out.
Solid design and not difficult to operate. A few design suggestions: “I am his father” under contact persons. If free choice is used, the sentence does not fit. The pictograms in the watch are male. Do women not fall? I find that male form unfriendly towards women, designer(s).

We have tested the alarm and the fall detection works well ! Topping up the credit also worked using the code in the booklet supplied.

What I like is that there is no subscription. Many other solutions seemed cheap but became expensive through monthly costs and contracts. This feels a good deal simpler. My mother in law now wears it every day and we do not have to ring or check all day long.
SIM card included. The instructions for it are not very clear. For the rest it is a matter of trying things out. They are happy with it though.

Exactly what we were looking for. We did have to puzzle a bit before everything worked, but that came good too.
An immediate alert on SOS or a fall. That is exactly what we needed.
It works properly. The sensitivity of the fall detection can be set better than on the Kuus s2. The installation/settings/menu in the app could be clearer.

How does the SOS button, panic button or fall detection work?
The user can press the SOS button themselves in an emergency. The watch then calls the preset numbers. If number 1 does not answer, number 2 is called automatically, and so on.
KUUS personal alarms and alarm watches also have a fall detection function. If the device detects an unexpected fall movement, it automatically calls the preset phone numbers. The user can cancel this if it is a false alarm. The sensitivity of the alarm can be adjusted.
PLEASE NOTE: if voicemail is switched on, the watch cannot dial through to the next number. The watch thinks the call was answered. So switch voicemail off on the emergency numbers.
Does the GPS watch work abroad and on holiday?
Yes. Our watch works throughout Europe. The included manual explains how to activate the watch in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Spain and other European countries.
You can also use your own local SIM card.
What is the difference with an Apple Watch or another smartwatch?
An Apple Watch only works together with an iPhone, while our watch works standalone with a SIM card. So seniors do not need a smartphone to use this watch. Calling is still possible because there is a prepaid SIM card inside the watch. Without subscription costs. This KUUS. alarm watch was developed specifically for seniors, with large icons.
What is the delivery time, when is it shipped?
Our products are delivered within 2 working days, well packed in a sturdy letterbox box so the product arrives undamaged.
Does installation take long? What does plug and play mean?
Our senior watches and personal alarms come pre-programmed. You only insert the SIM card and pair the watch with our app. The rest happens by itself. Installation takes about 5 to 10 minutes if you read the manual.
Prefer to watch an instruction video? You get that as well.
How long does the battery last?
That depends on how intensively you use the device. If you call more often or refresh the GPS location, the battery drains faster.
The battery lasts 1 to 2 days, just like a smartphone. Charge it while you sleep.
Maximise battery life by setting the GPS location update to 1 hour. You can always refresh the location manually in the app.
How many medication reminders can I set?
You can set up to 3 reminders for medication.
Do I have to switch off voicemail for the 3 SOS contacts?
Switch voicemail off on the 1st and 2nd SOS number.
Why? If voicemail is on, the watch thinks someone answered. It then stops calling and does not dial through to the next number.
So if you want the watch to call several numbers in a row, switch voicemail off on the SOS numbers. Another solution: use an extra SIM card as the SOS emergency number and switch voicemail off there too. This happens with all SOS watches.
