My mother in law fell in her kitchen and could not get up again. She lay there for two days without anyone knowing.
We only found out after two days. The woman who was always there for everyone had been lying on the kitchen floor for two days, while we simply carried on with our lives. That image stays with you. To Bas she was his grandmother.
Not long after, my father in law fell down the stairs. That was the moment we knew: this must never happen again. So we bought an alarm button, one of those buttons on a cord around the neck. It stayed in the drawer. We bought another one, with exactly the same result. Neither button was ever worn.
Not out of stubbornness. Many older people feel embarrassed by a button around the neck, because it looks like you need care. As if you are showing the whole street that you can no longer manage on your own. So the button stays in the drawer, exactly when it is needed most.
There is a good chance your parents have a drawer like that too.

Then we came up with the solution
We wanted an alarm that does not look like care, but like something you enjoy wearing. Nothing like it was for sale. So Bas and I decided to build it ourselves.
After several prototypes and months of market research, app development and testing we ended up with a working product. That was the S1, a watch with GPS and an SOS button but without fall detection. Today we have the S5, a small watch with fall detection and an SOS button.
And without a subscription. You buy a watch for your father or mother, not a monthly bill that runs for years.

Meaning of KUUS.
Why our watch is called KUUS
We come from Noord-Limburg and at home we speak dialect. In that dialect a kuus is an exceptionally large person, animal or building. Someone you look up to.
That is who you want beside you when you fall. Someone who sees you lying there, calls straight away and never ends up in a drawer.
That is the idea behind every KUUS product. Your father walks around with a kuus on his wrist. Small watch, big protector.
The only difference from a real kuus: this one fits under a sleeve.

You pay once and that is it. All that comes with it is a SIM card, no contract.
Set it up together
Get the watch ready together with your father. You set the SOS numbers and test fall detection, while the instruction video walks you through it.
A strap of your choice
Silicone, leather, hook and loop or milanese mesh. Hook and loop suits anyone who can no longer fasten a buckle.
We answer the phone ourselves
