▶How does a panic button without a subscription work?
For the wearer it is simply a panic button around the neck. The device works on its own and does not need to be paired over Bluetooth with another device. It works with any SIM card, for example the free SIM card supplied with it.
The family or carer pairs the panic button with fall detection to the app, guided by the instruction video. Through the app you set everything up and see the GPS location of your loved one.

The KUUS. S4 Plus is a panic button for elderly people that you wear on a neck cord. It is the same device as the S4, only around the neck instead of on the wrist. For anyone who does not want to or cannot wear a watch, because of rheumatism or a swollen wrist for example, this is the same protection in a different form.
The S4 Plus arrives ready to use. You insert the SIM card, pair the device once with the KUUS app and after about 5 minutes everything is set up.
Why a panic button without a subscription
The S4 Plus works on its own over 4G with an ordinary SIM card and is SIM unlocked, so you choose your own provider. There is no call centre and no monthly fee, an alarm goes straight to your own contacts.

Family or carers use the free KUUS app for iOS and Android to set up the device, view the GPS location, manage contacts and receive emergency alerts. The wearer does not need a smartphone.
Two SOS buttons and automatic fall detection
- When the wearer presses an SOS button, the S4 Plus automatically dials the preset SOS numbers, up to 3 numbers in a row. If the first number does not answer, the device dials through to numbers 2 and 3.
- If the device detects a fall, fall detection triggers the alarm automatically and calls the same SOS numbers after a few seconds.
- You set the sensitivity of the fall detection in the app, so you can limit false alarms.
- If it is a false alarm, the wearer cancels it on the device itself.
GPS location and safety zone
Through the KUUS app, loved ones can:
- retrieve the live location
- view the location history
- set a safety zone, with alerts on entering and leaving
Note that GPS indoors is less accurate than outdoors. The device uses GPS, Wi-Fi or LBS for the best available location.
Health mode: medication reminder
In health mode the S4 Plus gives up to 3 medication reminders a day. The reminder plays as a spoken prompt, ideal when medication is otherwise easily forgotten. In the app, family members can view daily steps and measurements if they wish.
How to wear it: on the neck cord or on the wrist

Looks good so far. The only point for improvement would be that a clear alarm sounds for everyone who has the app, instead of just a notification.

This is about the S4 senior watch. At first I had some trouble with the installation. Customer service helped me with a video explanation. In the end it is all about accurate location and fall detection.
Excellent watch!
Bought for my mother because I arrange everything myself and did not want yet another system with a subscription. The good thing is that I get a notification straight away and can see her location. That gives a lot more peace of mind. The installation was easier than expected and my brother could simply follow along in the app as well.
My mother often leaves her phone at home. That is why this works much better. Handy that several family members have access in the app.
The help to get the watch working falls far short.
A pity there is no app for a blood pressure monitor, step counter and so on.
I was afraid it would be another one of those systems that you have to spend an hour setting up. Fortunately that was not the case. The most important thing for me was that my mother can use it herself without any hassle. So far that is going well and that gives confidence.

What subscription or other costs do I have?
The personal alarm is SIM unlocked, you can use any SIM card. You do not need a subscription. We include a free SIM card so you can start right away. Netherlands: free SIM card on the KPN network from Lebara with 5 euro credit, top up when the credit runs out. 10 euro is on average enough for about 3 months, depending on use. Germany: free SIM card, easy to activate yourself. Indication of monthly costs: data for GPS and messages about 30 to 50 MB per month, roughly 0.50 to 1 euro per month. Outgoing calls from 0.09 euro per minute, incoming calls are free. The KUUS Watch App is free.
How do the SOS button, panic button and fall detection work?
The user can press the SOS button in an emergency. The device then calls the preset numbers. If number 1 does not answer, number 2 is called automatically, and so on. KUUS personal alarms and alarm watches also have fall detection. If the device detects an unexpected fall movement, it automatically calls the preset numbers. The user can cancel this if it is a false alarm. The sensitivity can be adjusted. Note: if your voicemail is on, the device cannot dial through to the next number. So switch voicemail off on the emergency numbers.
What is the delivery time, when is it shipped?
Our products are delivered within 2 working days. They are well packed in a sturdy letterbox box so the product arrives undamaged. You do not have to stay home for the delivery.
Does the setup take long? What is plug and play?
Our senior watches and personal alarms are pre-programmed. You only insert the SIM card and pair the device with our app. The rest happens by itself. Setup takes about 5 to 10 minutes if you read the manual. You receive a printed manual. Prefer an instruction video? You get that too.
How long does the battery last?
That depends on how intensively you use the device. If you call more often or update the GPS location more often, the battery drains faster. The battery lasts 1 to 2 days, like a smartphone. Charge it overnight. You extend the battery life by setting the GPS location update to 1 hour. Through the app you can always refresh the location manually.
Should I disable voicemail for the 3 people receiving the SOS alert?
Switch voicemail off on the 1st and 2nd SOS number. Why? If voicemail is on, the device thinks someone has answered. It then stops dialling and does not call the next number. If you want the device to call several numbers in a row, switch voicemail off on the SOS numbers. Another solution: use an extra SIM card as an SOS emergency number and switch voicemail off there too. This issue occurs with all SOS devices.
